I started drawing from the nude in my first year as an art student in 1969. I have kept up my life drawing ever since. It is a privilege to study the human form in such depth.
Trading the pencil for the camera is merely an extension of this process. I work quickly and intuitively, engaging in the spontaneity of the temporary alliance between the artist and his subject.

After a lifetime in theatre and construction as a designer and maker, my chosen medium is now photography and my subject, people. I aim to capture their essence for their pleasure and mine. I try to walk the strand between the conscious and unconscious minds, and seek to get beneath the surface of my subjects to find the inner by way of the outer.
